Miguel Antonio
Spanish, Flamenco, Classical Guitarist
Born in 1960 in the United States, Miguel Antonio began his musical training on piano at the age of four. By age eight Miguel was learning classical guitar and by age fifteen began performing professionally. In 1979, Mr. Antonio attended the music school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and afterwards, travelled to Spain for a more in depth study of Flamenco guitar. During his career, he has studied with Pepe Romero, Juan Serrano, Paco Pena, Mario Escudero, Sabicas, Manolo Sanlucar, Manolo Franco, Enrique de Melchor, Serranito, and many others while travelling Spain. As an accompanist, Miguel has toured with Jose Greco, the Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco, Mariano de Cordoba, and others worldwide. As a performer and educator, Miguel combines Flamenco, Classical and Latin American folk music in his concerts. Some performances have included; The International Guitar Festival in Cordoba, Spain, Festival Internacional de Taxco,Guerrero, Mexico, Instituto Mexicano de Flamencologia de ciudad Mexico, Universidad Pedagogica Mexico D.F., Escuela de Bellas Artes, Mexico D.F., American University Cairo, Egypt, The operas "El Amor Brujo" and "La Vida Breve" as well as master classes for universities and guitar societies.
